Port Washington, NY

There is plenty more to Port Washington. The town operates a dock and mooring field at the foot of Main Street. There you will find free dinghy tie ups and pump outs. Adjacent to the dock is a band shell where free concerts are held on Sunday evenings in the summer. Walking up main street you will find numerous restaurants, shops, and places to reprovision. The harbor boasts four yacht clubs, several marinas, restaurants with docks, and plenty of anchorage space with good holding.

Manhassett Bay Marina, all the way round the corner up by Manorhaven, is a fine place to sit out a storm. The restaurant there is full of friendly sailors and power boaters getting along as friends. The Little Neck Clams are authentic and good and there's a West Marine and supermarket within easy walking distance. It's a long walk or a short cab ride to the Port Washington Long Island Railroad station. Trains run into Manhattan frequently, 24 hours a day, and the off-peak fare is only $4.25. Highly recommended...
