Little Neck Bay

This anchorage is most comfortable in good weather but can provide some needed shelter if the wind is out of an easterly direction and doesn't change during the night! It has always seemed safe to us even when it hasn't been perfectly comfortable.

Little Neck Bay is immediately past the Whitestone Bridge. You might not consider anchoring here from what the chart shows but you'd be surprised how often the wind is just right for this to be a calm and pleasant place to spend the night. It's also a good place to wait out the tide before running the rapids down the East River into New York Harbor.
