Chartering at Flyer's in Provincetown
Intermediate sailors can experience live-aboard cruising and improve their
sailing skills while enjoying quiet anchorages, beautiful sunsets and an
overnight stay on a sailboat with the best view Provincetown has to offer
by chartering a boat from Flyer's Boatyard.
You can also combine all this with lessons from Flyer's blue water sailing instructors.
Cape Cod Bay provides a large protected area for day sails along with easy
access to offshore sailing. Five lighthouses and the Pilgrim Monument provide
excellent markers for dead reckoning. You will find unparalleled wildlife and
are sure to see water birds, whales and dolphins. They are here for the same
reason the rest of us are, great fishing, diving and secluded beaches (for the
bird who wants to sunbathe).
When the sun starts to go down you can anchor in a protected cove, watch the
sun set over the dunes of the National Seashore and enjoy a quiet evening
aboard - This may be the best part of staying onboard for the night. Be sure
to bring your favorite company!
Or, you can hook up to your mooring and call for the launch to enjoy a different
kind of wildlife. After a day of fresh air and healthy sunshine you just may want
to slip into something a little more risqué. But beware, Cinderella, be sure to
return home before the tide leaves the dock dry or you could be sitting on your
pumpkin for a couple of hours! Be sure to check with the rental desk for tide
times. This really isn't a problem as long as you are aware of it!
Flyer's has several sailboats for weekend or weeklong charters from 22' to 28'.
All are capable cruisers equipped with VHF radio, compass, charts and sailing
gear. Ice boxes, drinking water tanks, outside grills, table and galley gear
allow you to have full meals aboard. Provisioning in Provincetown is a unique
These cruising sailboats have marine toilets with holding tanks to keep our
harbor clean. Various bunk arrangements provide comfortable sleeping
arrangements for a couple or for small parties. Flyer's Boatyard runs
its own launch service, showers and laundry. Marine and fishing supplies
are available in the boatyard. Markets, package stores, tackle shops and
all the other diversions Provincetown has to offer are all within walking
distance. Slips are available in the center of town if you prefer to stay
at a dock. Just let us know far enough ahead of time and we will reserve one for you.
You don't have to be ASA certified to charter from us, just demonstrate your
proficiency with the craft. If you're not comfortable taking out bigger
boats by yourself let us give you some lessons. We schedule them in two-hour,
half-day and full-day time slots. We can cover any skills you want to improve
and will tailor the course to what you want and need. Our sailing instructors
have long distance cruising experience and regularly teach both couples and one-on-one.
