SailNorthEast was fortunate enough to be able to take the closest
mooring in Annapolis Harbor to the docks for the Volvo Ocean Race
(formerly the Whitbread). Today is Thursday, (April 25th, 2002).
The boats are due to arrive on Friday and the next leg of the race
begins on Sunday. Check back here to see how things develop.
We'll post our pictures each evening...

Today the Maryland Maritime Festival got into full swing with many
traditional and trademark watercraft on display.
Included were this, the last of the Trumpy boats to be built,
and these yawl boats which were used to provide the only engine propulsion for Chesapeake Bay Skipjacks.
Chesapeake Bay's "Great Schooner Model Society" raced its radio controlled
models off the dinghy dock.
Marty Hayes adjusts the rig of his replica model prior to racing,
and he doesn't even fall into the water!
